Shekhar Kaviraj Tiruwa

I'm Shekhar Kaviraj Tiruwa, an aspiring Data Scientist and AI Engineer based in Toronto. I grew up in Mumbai, India, spending weekends tinkering with piezo buzzers and homemade water-level sensors—trying my best to channel Nikola Tesla. My fascination with building things shifted dramatically during my second year of university, when Prof. Kulkarni's lecture on data science illuminated an entirely new path: why invest billions in hardware when elegant algorithms could solve problems with clarity and precision?

Today, my work revolves around crafting ethical and human-centered AI tools, especially those involving machine learning, NLP, and deep learning. My recent favorite project involved architecting a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) system for a financial chatbot, empowering investors of all backgrounds to naturally "converse" with complex financial reports.

Previously, I served as a Business Intelligence Engineer at Contentstack, designing data pipelines and insightful visualizations using SQL, Tableau, Zoho Analytics, Snowflake, and Fivetran. On the side, I've dived deeply into machine learning and generative AI projects, pushing myself to grasp the core ideas behind these powerful technologies.

My journey through mathematics at the University of Mumbai and AI & Data Science at Loyalist College has taught me to appreciate both analytical rigor and creative exploration. Beyond technology, I'm proud to have earned silver and gold medals in javelin and discus, and I cherish a lifelong passion for singing—reminding me that discipline and creativity are equally essential.

Inspired by Chip Huyen's book AI Engineering, I attend AIGS meetups and community discussions to stay deeply connected to the ethical dimension of AI. I'm currently pursuing advanced certifications, diving into Andrew Ng's Deep Learning Specialization, and exploring Stanford's AI lectures.
